Mani obtained an undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser University and a law degree from the University of Alberta. As a law student, Mani gained experience working at the Criminal Law Clinic at the University of Alberta. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia in January 2007. Mani spent his early career as a sole practitioner with a focus on criminal defence. In 2012, he formed the law firm of Mani Sandhu and Associates Law Corporation with a focus on general litigation. In 2017, he joined Basra Law Group as an associate counsel.

Mani is one of the busiest criminal defence lawyers in this province. He has conducted several hundred trials since being called to the Bar. His trial work has involved both judge alone and jury trials at the Provincial Court and Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Mani has previously volunteered with the New Westminster Police Service and has served on the board of directors for a charity. He is a current member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia. In his spare time, he enjoys learning new languages and doing home improvement projects.
